OUTsurance Blanket Drive between June and August saw over 8,000 more blankets donated to underprivileged South Africans than last year. Kicking off in Winter, the Blanket Drive by OUTsurance promised that for every quote they completed, they would donate 2 blankets. Combined with the Blanket Drive visits to malls around the country, consumers were asked to donate either money, blankets or clothes.
This year OUTsurance distributed R70,000 and almost 40,000 blankets, via 19 different charities to needy South Africans. The idea behind the drive, according to the Head of Marketing, was to make it easy for people to help the less fortunate, in some instances, not costing anything. Simply filling in a car insurance quote with an OUTsurance advisor earned a charity two extra blankets.
A win win situation for charities and OUTsurance as half of those who requested a quote signed the policy. While 2 blankets is not usually enough to motivate someone to buy a policy, the drive offers some in the way of a testimony to OUTsurance’s rates.
