Health experts warn against National Health Insurance plan - 21 Sep 2009 12:21
Experts warn that South Africa is headed for bad news with ANC's implementation of the national health insurance (NHI) plan; the whole operation is headed by trade unionists who want to remove private medical aid schemes and insurance altogether from South Africa.
Those who are in favor of the bill receiving public scrutiny first say that medical aid cover would become an unaffordable luxury for most citizens because the bill calls for all tax rebates on medical aid contributions to be removed.
Allegedly health minister, Barbara Hogan was removed from her post because of her insistence that the NHI plan be subjected to public scrutiny before it is drafted into legislation.
