Can we really afford not to have home insurance? - 13 Jul 2009 17:02
Research done on ten individuals over the age of fifty has proven that eighty percent of the group does not believe in home insurance. The more mature generation believes that we end up wanting cover that we are never going to use, they seem to feel that paying monthly premiums is a waste of money.

When questioned what would make them claim, 82% said vandalism, 77% a burst pipe and half a lost engagement ring. There’s always going to be an imbalance with preference between age groups, but is insurance an argument influenced by experience or is it just a matter of common sense.

Insurance answers the questions of uncertainties and not wisdom, we get insurance because we never know what’s going to happen and not because it’s a new trend that the younger group are falling for.

Older generations could be more protective over the possessions and money that they’ve worked so hard for. Home insurance is a policy that combines various protections that cover loss to contents and insurance for accidents that may occur at home.

Being part of any demographic, we are all affected by the restlessness of going to bed with the hope of not being burgled.
