Best Insurance Company in South Africa - 13 Aug 2009 08:12
According to the infamous Ask Afrika Orange Index, the best rated South African insurance company of both short- and long-term insurance providers is currently Santam with Standard Bank Insurance coming in a close second. The index measures South African companies in terms of service excellence and is the most comprehensive, reliable, long-term South African service excellence benchmark covering all service points in the customer value chain.
With 69.8% customer satisfaction, Santam made their appearance at number 4 of all 70 companies surveyed, and top insurance company in South Africa. Standard Bank Insurance was at number 9 on the overall list, with OUTsurance just missing the top 10 at number 11. Old Mutual was top rated long-term insurance provider according to customer satisfaction.
Almost 16,000 consumers were interviewed to compile the now prestigious index. As a result of the growing number of choices available to South African consumers, the economy has become more service-oriented. Customers are becoming increasingly sophisticated with higher expectations - expectations service providers will have to meet because of competitive rivals.
An integral part of customer satisfaction is effective complaints management, which both Santam and Standard Bank Insurance seem to be getting right. With watchdogs like Hellopeter, more emphasis is being placed on customer service as deciding factor when choosing whom to do business with. Insurers do well to acknowledge this, as do their customers: the cheapest premium may not be the best when you factor in customer service.
