Car insurance is basically of three main types:
- Third Party – It is the most basic and often the cheapest form of car insurance available in the market. Although, it doesn't cover the damages on your car but it does cover you from the other person's car or property injuries. This insurance is only recommended if you can't afford any other insurance or the value of your car is less than the insurance.
- Third Party, Fire and Theft – This insurance covers you from the entire above-mentioned calamities plus if your car sets on fire or gets stolen. Even in this type of insurance you don't get a penny to cover the costs of the damage to your car if you're at fault.
- Fully Comprehensive – It is the most complete type of insurance policy and therefore the most expensive. This insurance covers all the above aspects plus the cost of accidental car damage, injuries caused by a car and even the loss or damage of items by your car. Most insurance companies offer extra services for this policy such as a courtesy car whilst your car is being repaired. In case your car is insured for multiple drivers then fully comprehensive insurance can turn out to be very costly.
